In a major boost to India’s solar manufacturing ambitions, Sunkind Energy has entered into a strategic technical partnership with global solar giant JA Solar. The collaboration aims to support Sunkind’s upcoming 2.4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module manufacturing facilities in India, totaling an impressive 6.4 GW capacity.

The partnership will enable Sunkind Energy to integrate JA Solar’s cutting-edge technologies, including its expertise in tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cell technology, into its manufacturing lines. By leveraging JA Solar’s robust global supply chain and production know-how, Sunkind aims to enhance its competitiveness and align with international quality benchmarks.

“As India accelerates its transition towards renewable energy, the demand for high-performance solar solutions is at an all-time high,” said Hanish Gupta, Founder and Managing Director of Sunkind Energy. “Through this collaboration, we aim to deliver world-class solar cells and modules that support India’s vision for self-reliant, future-ready industrial growth.”

Founded in 2019, Sunkind Energy has already made its mark in the clean energy sector with over 150 MW of completed EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects. The company is now expanding its presence across the solar value chain, with diversification into energy storage systems, EV infrastructure, and tracker solutions, alongside its new manufacturing ventures.

JA Solar, a global leader founded in 2005, has shipped more than 280 GW of photovoltaic products to 178 countries as of Q1 2025. Its collaboration with Sunkind is expected to significantly bolster domestic manufacturing under India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative, while also contributing to the global supply of sustainable energy solutions.

This strategic move marks a significant milestone for India’s solar industry and sets the stage for advanced, large-scale solar manufacturing rooted in global partnerships and technological excellence.
