With an investment of Rs 3,200 crore, Schneider Electric aims to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and digitization to drive growth in India’s energy sector and contribute to sustainable development. The new plants will add approximately 1.2 million square feet of manufacturing space by 2026, reinforcing India’s position as a key global hub for the company.
India’s Growing Importance in Schneider’s Global Strategy
India is currently Schneider Electric’s third-largest market globally and one of its four major global hubs. CEO Olivier Blum emphasised India’s focus on digitalization, sustainability, energy transition, and infrastructure modernization as key drivers for the company’s expansion. “We are leveraging AI and digitization to accelerate growth in the Indian energy sector. We believe that advanced technologies like digital grids, IoT-enabled distributed energy resources, microgrids, smart buildings, and smart cities will reduce emissions by 75% over the next 25 years,” he stated.
Schneider Electric already operates 31 manufacturing plants in India, and the addition of the three new facilities is expected to create numerous job opportunities while enhancing the country’s industrial capabilities.
Accelerating India’s Energy Transition
At Elecrama 2025, Schneider Electric showcased an extensive range of electrical and automation products and solutions aimed at facilitating India’s transition towards a more energy-efficient and sustainable future. Deepak Sharma, Schneider’s Zone President – Greater India, Managing Director, and CEO, highlighted the importance of the company’s advanced solutions. “Our efficient, resilient, and sustainable product portfolio will empower Indian businesses on their digitization and decarbonization journey,” he said.
The expansion underscores Schneider Electric’s commitment to India’s economic growth and sustainability goals, aligning with the nation’s broader objectives of energy efficiency, digital transformation, and carbon footprint reduction. With these new investments, the company is set to play a crucial role in shaping India’s energy landscape in the coming years.
