LG CNS Expands to U.S. Market with Smart Poles and Control Systems in Georgia

Recently, LG CNS, a prominent South Korean leader in AI transformation and smart city technologies, has officially entered the U.S. municipal market with the signing of a smart city infrastructure agreement with the City of Hogansville, Georgia. This marks the company’s first contract with a U.S. government entity, signalling a strategic expansion into North America.

Under the agreement, LG CNS will deploy smart poles and an integrated control system throughout downtown Hogansville and its parks. The smart poles, which combine traditional street and traffic lighting with advanced Internet of Things (IoT) technology, will feature public Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, environmental sensors, and dynamic lighting control. The infrastructure will be centrally managed through LG CNS’s proprietary smart city platform, Cityhub Building, allowing for real-time urban management and monitoring.

Moreover, to core IoT features, the project incorporates the installation of electric vehicle charging stations, digital signage, and emergency call buttons. These call buttons will be directly linked to local emergency services to further improve public safety and ensure rapid response times during critical incidents.

This initiative not only aims to enhance safety and convenience for Hogansville residents but also lays the groundwork for broader smart city development across the region. LG CNS has announced plans to extend its efforts to neighbouring cities such as LaGrange and West Point.

Globally, LG CNS has built a strong reputation for its smart city expertise. The company has contributed to major projects, including the master planning of Nusantara, Indonesia’s upcoming new capital, and key smart city pilot programs in South Korea, such as Sejong Smart City and the Busan Eco Delta Smart City — collectively valued at over 8 trillion Korean won.

“Smart infrastructure is fundamental to driving sustainable urban development, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing quality of life,” said Shin-Gyoon Hyun, CEO of LG CNS. “We are committed to working closely with the City of Hogansville to deliver a smarter, safer, and more connected urban environment.”

The collaboration between LG CNS and Hogansville projects the growing momentum for smart city projects in the United States and marks the crucial role of technology in defining future-ready communities.
