Turin, Italy: Commercial vehicle manufacturer IVECO and PETRONAS Lubricants International (PLI) have renewed their long-standing strategic partnership for an additional five years, extending their collaboration through 2032. The agreement reinforces a relationship that has spanned more than five decades, centred on innovation, performance and sustainability in the commercial transport sector.
Under the renewed agreement, PLI will continue to supply and co-engineer a comprehensive portfolio of lubricants and technical fluids tailored for IVECO’s commercial vehicles across Europe. The range includes advanced engine oils, transmission fluids, brake fluids and coolants, specifically formulated to meet the demanding operational requirements of IVECO’s vehicle lineup.
A key outcome of the partnership has been the development of the co-branded IVECO URANIA engine oils and IVECO TUTELA technical fluids, which remain the only fluids officially recommended by IVECO. Developed through decades of joint research and development, these products are designed to maximise vehicle uptime, improve energy efficiency and extend component life.
The collaboration’s latest innovation is Urania Next 0W-16, the industry’s first SAE 0W-16 engine oil specifically developed for heavy-duty applications. The new formulation delivers enhanced fuel efficiency, lower CO₂ emissions and extended oil drain intervals, while also being Euro 7 ready to support the next generation of IVECO engines.
Commenting on the partnership renewal, Domenico Nucera, Chief Quality & Operations Officer, Iveco Group, said, “The renewal of the agreement with PETRONAS Lubricants International confirms the strength of a long-standing collaboration built on shared technical expertise and a common ambition to continuously improve performance, efficiency and sustainability across our vehicle and powertrain portfolio.”
He added that the co-engineering of the IVECO URANIA and IVECO TUTELA ranges enables the company to deliver solutions that optimise total cost of ownership while supporting customers and dealer networks with high standards of quality and reliability.
The renewed agreement also places significant emphasis on strengthening the IVECO dealer network. PLI will introduce targeted initiatives aimed at enhancing dealer engagement and increasing customer awareness of IVECO-approved lubricants, supporting business growth and improved vehicle reliability across European markets.
Domenico Ciaglia, Group Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, PETRONAS Lubricants International, said, “This partnership renewal demonstrates what can be achieved through a long-term, forward-thinking collaboration with consistency and a shared commitment to excellence. Through continuous product innovation, we have been able to co-develop market-leading solutions such as the Urania Next 0W-16 engine oil formulation, seamlessly integrated into IVECO’s ecosystem.”
He further noted that PLI remains committed to supporting the IVECO Group with reliable, high-performance products and solutions that create lasting value for its network and customers, while reinforcing the company’s broader strategic roadmap built on technical excellence and trusted partnerships.
The renewed collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing sustainable mobility solutions and delivering enhanced operational efficiency and value to commercial vehicle operators worldwide.
