The 6th edition of IPTEX/GRINDEX, the largest power transmission focused event in India, drew to a close on February 15th with 3,000 attendees visiting the three-day show in Pune, India. This was the first time the event was held in Pune, considered the Detroit of India, with the largest Indian car manufacturer, Tata Motors, based in the city. The biennial event was started 12 years ago.
New Location in Pune – the “Detroit” of India – a Major Draw
The show mirrors the AGMA Motion and Power Technology Expo, with exhibitors focused on both machine tools and services, as well as open and closed gear systems. The show also includes electric drive and fluid power. Several AGMA members participated in the show, including Gleason India, Kapp Niles, Klingelnberg, as well as Joe Gibbs Machinery. On the gear side, Shanti Gears, Pragati Transmission and Gishnu Gears were part of the event.
AGMA’s Matt Croson and Mary Ellen Doran attended IPTEX, meeting with end user customers, current and prospective members, hosting a dinner with 53 CEO and senior level employees for networking, and producing the second education class in India – Steels for Gears. The class was a partnership with Ovako Steel, and included a day long presentation by Goran Nystrom, Executive Vice President of Ovako. Approximately 35 attendees participated in the class.
“For the Indian power transmission community, this event is where the leading companies come to market their services to the focused buyer attendee audience, while also networking and connecting via education programming,” notes Matt Croson, President of AGMA. “This is my second time at IPTEX, and the 6th time AGMA has supported the event as a sponsor. The AGMA Board has long supported our efforts to grow partnerships in India because it is seen as both a place for sales growth for members looking to export, as well as a source for gear manufacturing for companies looking for a global footprint. AGMA has 17 India-based companies as members, the largest number of companies from one country, and is committed to securing long term relationships in this Tier 1 priority country.”
IPTEX/GRINDEX is managed and produced by Virgo Communications, a Bangalore-based event and communications management company.
