February 2025 – At POTM 2025, Vishal Dhupar, MD of Asia South at NVIDIA, emphasized India’s potential to lead the world in AI-driven manufacturing, highlighting how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to revolutionize industrial processes. (ET)
Dhupar pointed out that India’s rapid industrial growth presents both challenges and opportunities, particularly with greenfield projects—new manufacturing plants that can integrate AI from inception to ensure sustainability and efficiency.
“India has large grand challenges, and applying AI to solve these will not only benefit India but also provide valuable insights to the world,” he stated.
One of the key takeaways from Dhupar’s discussion was the importance of integrating AI with physical processes. He noted that manufacturing cannot be fully described in words; instead, AI models must learn physics to create a new foundation for industrial automation.
“The world of manufacturing is about physical AI. We need to teach models physics and create a new world model,” he explained, drawing parallels to the autonomous vehicle industry, where AI must continuously adapt to unpredictable environments.
Dhupar also highlighted AI’s role in optimizing manufacturing for sustainability. By enhancing efficiency, AI can reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, potentially cutting carbon output equivalent to removing 20 million cars from the road.
He further emphasized the transformative impact of NVIDIA’s ‘Transformer Engine’, which is reshaping AI’s capabilities. While initial costs for AI adoption were high, falling prices are making AI more accessible to manufacturers of all sizes.
With AI-driven optimization, India stands at the cusp of a manufacturing revolution, positioning itself as a global leader in AI-powered industrial solutions. Dhupar’s insights at POTM 2025 reinforce India’s commitment to intelligent, efficient, and sustainable manufacturing.
