Dr. Nikhil Agarwal- Indiependent Director HAL
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has appointed Dr Nikhil Agarwal as an Independent Director on its Board, effective September 9, 2026.
Dr Agarwal brings extensive experience at the intersection of research, innovation, technology transfer and industry collaboration. He has been associated with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi, where he has worked to facilitate the transition of research and deep-tech innovations from academic institutions to industry.
Following his appointment, Dr Agarwal said he was pleased to join the HAL Board and highlighted the importance of indigenous innovation, R&D partnerships and collaboration with startups in strengthening India’s aerospace and defence capabilities.
HAL, a key player in India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem, is increasingly focusing on indigenous technology development and strengthening collaborations across the R&D and industrial ecosystem. Dr Agarwal is expected to bring an innovation and technology-transfer perspective to the Board as the company advances its efforts towards greater self-reliance in aerospace manufacturing.
Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Dr Agarwal thanked the HAL Board and the Ministry of Defence and said he looked forward to contributing to the company’s technology and innovation journey.
