The new High-gain EMI microwave antenna up to 44 GHz enables EMI measurements of devices in the FR2 range.
At the EMV 2025 tradeshow in Stuttgart, Rohde & Schwarz displays for the first time its R&S HF1444G14 High-gain EMI microwave antenna with outstanding performance. The antenna covers a frequency range from 14.9 GHz to 44 GHz. It meets the requirements of the standards CISPR 16-1-4 and CISPR 16-2-3. Precise mechanical construction and optionally available individual calibration make the antenna ideal for electromagnetic interference measurements. With the R&S HF1444G14 Rohde & Schwarz addresses the trend towards higher frequencies and accelerates and simplifies the test of large objects in smaller chambers.
The new High-gain EMI microwave antenna extends the frequency range of Rohde & Schwarz’ EMC measurement antenna portfolio up to 44 GHz enabling EMI measurements of devices in the FR2 range. Thanks to its sophisticated and innovative design the antenna shows a market leading electrical performance of high antenna gain (approx. 14 dBi at the center frequency) in combination with a 3 dB half-power beamwidth of more than 28°. With a single measurement, the antenna can fully illuminate an Equipment Under Test (EUT) with a cylindrical volume of 1.5 m x 1.5 m from a distance of 3 m. This efficiency not only reduces measurement time, enabling higher throughput, but also allows the antenna to be placed closer to the EUT, thereby requiring a smaller and more cost-efficient EMC chamber.
Furthermore, the antenna meets the requirements of the standard CISPR 16-1-4 and the updated standard CISPR 16-2-3. In the standard update the frequency range 1 GHz to 18 GHz is extended up to 40 GHz and a min. 3 dB half-power beamwidth of 28° is required.
The new EMC antenna is the perfect choice for making full compliance testing up to 44 GHz in combination with the R&S ESW44 EMI test receiver. The system is designed to deliver precise and reliable measurement results quickly. The excellent electrical performance and the resulting benefits position the new EMI antenna as a future-proof investment for EMC test laboratories and manufacturers of complex products or electronic equipment requiring EMI testing like the automotive industry, mobile phone manufacturers, consumer electronics, industry electronics and furthermore.
