Tata and Boeing leadership teams commemorate the 400th Apache fuselage milestone at TBAL, Hyderabad.
Hyderabad, India: Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) has rolled out its 400th fuselage for the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter, marking a significant production milestone for India’s growing aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem.
The fuselage was manufactured at TBAL’s 52,000 sq. m. facility in Hyderabad, where the Tata-Boeing joint venture produces advanced aerostructures for the Apache. These India-made fuselages are subsequently integrated into complete helicopters supplied to customers worldwide, including the U.S. Army and the Indian Army.
The milestone comes as India continues to strengthen its position in global defence supply chains. TBAL said its Apache fuselage programme demonstrates the country’s growing capability to manufacture sophisticated aerospace structures to international standards and support major global defence platforms.
Established in 2016, TBAL currently employs more than 750 engineers and technicians at its Hyderabad facility. The operation combines robotics, automation and advanced aerospace manufacturing technologies to produce the Apache fuselage.
India’s contribution to the Apache programme extends beyond manufacturing for export markets. Six AH-64E Apaches were delivered to the Indian Army in 2025, while the Indian Air Force operates 22 Apaches.
The production milestone also comes against the backdrop of the Apache’s expanding global presence. Around 1,300 Apache helicopters are currently in service across 19 countries, making TBAL’s Hyderabad facility an increasingly important node in the platform’s international supply chain.
For Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Boeing, the 400th fuselage underscores the evolution of their partnership from a manufacturing venture into a key contributor to the global aerospace production network.
The milestone reinforces a broader shift in India’s defence sector—from being primarily an equipment buyer to becoming an increasingly capable manufacturer and exporter of high-value aerospace components.
