
Mumbai, India: In a significant boost to India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem, SECO/WARWICK has secured a contract to supply a state-of-the-art vacuum furnace to the Aerospace business unit of the Godrej Enterprises Group. The investment marks a strategic milestone in expanding advanced heat treatment capabilities within India while strengthening the country’s self-reliance in aerospace manufacturing.
The turnkey project includes the supply of a high-efficiency horizontal vacuum furnace manufactured in Europe, along with auxiliary equipment that will be produced in India. By combining European vacuum engineering with localised manufacturing, the project also reinforces SECO/WARWICK India’s engineering, service, and long-term customer support capabilities.
The new furnace will enable Godrej Aerospace to bring critical brazing and heat treatment processes in-house, reducing dependence on external suppliers while improving production flexibility, lead times, and supply chain resilience. The company manufactures high-precision aerospace components, including engine parts, structural assemblies, and transmission systems for the global aviation industry.

Designed for demanding aerospace applications, the horizontal cylindrical vacuum furnace is engineered for brazing and heat treatment of nickel, titanium, and stainless-steel alloys. The system features a fully metallic hot zone with molybdenum-lanthanum (MoLa) screens to ensure high process purity and can operate at temperatures up to 1,300°C with Class 2 temperature uniformity (±5°C) across the working zone.
The furnace is capable of dynamically heating loads of approximately two tonnes and is equipped with a high-vacuum system capable of achieving vacuum levels of 10⁻⁵ millibar. An integrated argon gas quenching system operating at nearly 2 bar absolute pressure enables rapid cooling while maintaining critical metallurgical properties. Automation is handled through a Siemens-based control system, and the furnace fully complies with AMS2750 and AMS2769 aerospace standards covering temperature uniformity surveys (TUS), system accuracy tests (SAT), instrumentation, and process qualification.
Under the project, SECO/WARWICK will deliver the furnace and process technology from Poland, while all auxiliary systems will be manufactured in India. The company’s Mumbai office, located close to Godrej Aerospace’s Vikhroli facility, along with its manufacturing plant in Chakan, will provide local engineering and service support.

For Godrej Aerospace, the investment represents a strategic move toward building complete in-house expertise in advanced heat treatment processes.

The installation further strengthens SECO/WARWICK’s presence in India’s rapidly growing aerospace and defence sectors by expanding access to advanced high-vacuum heat treatment technologies. The project is expected to enhance the availability of qualified special process infrastructure, supporting both domestic aerospace manufacturers and global OEMs seeking reliable suppliers with certified heat treatment capabilities.
By integrating world-class vacuum furnace technology with local manufacturing and service support, the collaboration between SECO/WARWICK and Godrej Aerospace underscores the increasing focus on strengthening India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and improving the resilience of its aerospace supply chain.
